Back in her hotel room, she watches in amazement as a djinni escapes from the glass bottle she had just bought at the market. In exchange for his freedom, the djinni offers to grant her three wishes. But Alithea hesitates. So the djinni begins to tell her about his life and times long past, about turbulent adventures and great loves.
