Berlin 1942. Young Cioma Schönhaus is full of zest for life and drive. He is of Jewish descent, but he is neither discouraged nor intimidated, certainly not by the Nazis! So he takes flight to the front. Together with his friend Det, he throws himself into full life, because in his opinion the best hiding places are where everyone is looking. With ingenuity, charm and impudence, he perfects the art of imitation and deception - spurred on by Gerda, master of mimicry and his great love. His talent for perfectly forging passports helps many to escape, but it increasingly puts himself in danger.
