TJ Ballantyne is the owner of the Old Oak, a pub in a small town in northern England.
He serves the same unemployed regulars there every day, for whom the pub has become the last place they can meet. The arrival of Syrian refugees causes tension in the village. However, TJ befriends Yara, a young migrant who is passionate about photography.
Together they try to revive the local community by building a canteen for the poorest of the poor, regardless of their origin.
