Shelly has been on stage every night for 30 years as a dancer in the ‘Razzle Dazzle’ show, the last performance of its kind in Las Vegas. The performances, the costumes and her showgirl surrogate family mean everything to her. When the cancellation of the show is announced, her world collapses. With her best friend, the waitress Annette, Shelly tries to survive the last few days until the final performance with dignity. But the impending emptiness in her life forces her to confront her past and the decisions she has made. She tries to salvage the strained relationship with her now grown-up daughter, whom she neglected as a child, in order to follow her own professional passion.
In ‘The Last Showgirl’, director Gia Coppola presents a touching portrait of an ageing showgirl who has to say goodbye to the glamorous Las Vegas of old as the entertainment industry changes. Pamela Anderson is convincing in the multi-layered leading role and Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis shines as Shelly's best friend. The film celebrated its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and was awarded the Special Jury Prize at the San Sebastián Film Festival.
