Meteorologists and scientists from all over Europe are looking for a year-round weather observation station at high altitude and land on the Säntis in 1879. The St. Gallen scientist Robert Billwiller seizes the opportunity, but underestimates the mountain and the weather. Avalanche deaths and a double murder tarnish the scientists' fame. The Säntisträger are the great heroes. It was only thanks to their courage and perseverance that people were able to live on the Säntis all year round. They too were powerless against the mountain and nature and paid a very high price. The opening of the Säntis Railway in 1935 changed everything on the mountain. The Säntis porters return to the valley as quietly as they came. They are the true heroes. This film takes a look behind the scenes and talks about what was previously hidden.
