In an idyllic valley in Iceland, Inga and her husband Reynir run a dairy farm that is part of a cooperative. After the sudden death of Reynir, Inga begins to defend herself against the cooperative's abusive monopoly practices. With her intrepid fight she finally wins a new perspective on life thanks to the support of the remaining inhabitants of the valley.
Authentic and with a dry sense of humour, the film tells of Nordic culture, of stubbornness and taciturnity, but also of peasant cunning and a sense of community. The main character of the bear-eyed Inga, who is not willing to wear overalls and rubber boots, has cult potential.
