Ann is a famous opera singer, Henry a polarising stand-up comedian. As different as the two are, their love runs deep. As a star couple celebrated by the media, they speed through the urban canyons of Los Angeles on Henry's motorbike, past gleaming neon signs, and sing "we love each other so much" in their idyllic house on the edge of the forest. But the birth of their daughter Annette, an unusual girl, will turn their lives completely upside down.
